As a keen mountaineer who has spent many a day climbing and walking the mountains of Snowdonia, I thought it about time to give something back to a voluntary organisation that provides a first class service to those that get into difficulty out on the hill.

I have decided to run the Virgin London Marathon on behalf of the Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Organisation in order to raise funds for the organisation, as well as raise awareness of the excellent work carried out by the team.

OVMRO continues to be one of the busiest Mountain Rescue Teams in the country, assisting the Police and Ambulance authorities with rough terrain search and rescue in Northern Snowdonia. Its members are on stand-by 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year; giving their time for free to assist fellow users of the great outdoors who have come to grief. Please dig deep and donate what you can to a truly worthwhile cause.
