Pedal-Powered Boat Challenge on the River Thames

Next weekend, I'm going to undertake a silly challenge. It involves attempting to cycle down the River Thames from Oxford to Wallingford. Not on the tow path. On the river itself. Yes, I’m going to try to ride, a pedal-powered boat, “Skippy”, courtesy of David Witt. Exactly how many miles I manage rather depends on whether I can keep the boat upright at all (even in the locks!), and how many red warnings the Environment Agency slaps on the river…

You can see more details about why I'm doing this at http://trialog.waxwing.co.uk/2012/11/ogwen-rescue/ and more details about the boat at http://www.soue.org.uk/souenews/issue3/pedalpower.html.

Please sponsor me!

Thank you,
Gareth

Post-script: Thank you everyone for sponsoring me. After a 24 hour delay due to river conditions, I successfully completed a 16 mile trip from Donnington Bridge in Oxford to Day's Lock. You can see some photos and video of the action at http://trialog.waxwing.co.uk/2012/11/challenge-photos/ and http://trialog.waxwing.co.uk/2012/11/challenge-video/.
