Despite having broken my ankle last year and having emergency spinal surgery in February this year I am back to running, on the Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Team and ready to start raising some money.

My journey begins with the Bristol 10k on 15th May, followed by the Swanage Half Marathon on 16th July and the Bournemouth Pier to Pier Swim on 17th July. Then it's the Walkers' Haute Route - 180km from Chamonix to Zermatt - over 12 days (it's meant to take 15) at the beginning of September and the Great North Run on 18th September.

My journey ends with the Liverpool Marathon, an iconic road race returning after 30 years, on 9th October.

So, for those of you that use the mountains, it's time to show some support. Consider it a kind of insurance ;)

And, for those of you that don't, dig in anyway. Remember, it's manned by volunteers and all the equipment is paid for by donations and fundraising. That means you.

Thank you for your time and your support :)

...UPDATE... Sunday 15th May - Bristol 10k completed this morning in just under 57 minutes. Happy with the time as it means I am on target with my training :)

...UPDATE... Saturday 16th July - Just completed the Swanage Half Marathon in 2hrs 12mins 45secs which was a personal best for me. Unfortunately the Pier to Pier swim has been postponed until further notice due to severe weather conditions. Feeling good and happy with my progress :)

...UPDATE... Just been informed that the re-scheduled date for the Pier to Pier swim is 4th September which is when I will be doing the Haute Route so no can do. Gutted.

...UPDATE... Back from the Alps and a hard Haute Route. It was hot and my pack weighed about 24kg, but it was amazing. It was beautiful and challenging and I met some lovely people along the way.

...UPDATE... Completed the Great North Run in 2hrs 16mins 14secs. Didn't quite beat my Swanage time but beat my 2010 GNR time by 7 mins so pretty pleased. Just one more to go... :O

...UPDATE... That's it, all done. Liverpool Marathon completed in around 4hrs 53mins (still waiting for official time from Run Liverpool) but beat my London Marathon 2002 time of 4:59:04 so pretty pleased with that. I shall NEVER be running another marathon - sticking to 10kms and half marathons from now on ;)
